dear sirmadammy friend is organising a charity ball on 3rd of may to raise money for mnd association. a charity very close to her heart. I am writing in the hope that you may be able to help and show your support. we will be holding a raffle or auction on the evening to try and raise more funds and was hoping you may be able to help by donating a prize that we can include. anything from a bottle of wine to a gift voucher would be greatly appreciated. or if you feel you could help by providing a service on the evening. we will be happy to come and collect any local donations. it will be made obvious to everyone attending which companies helped support the event. my friend prepared the below statement to try and explain why this is her chosen charity and why it means so much to her. please take the time to read it even if you cannot help us as it will help raise awareness of this disease. what she did not include in this statement is the fact that only a couple of months after losing her mother to this disease her dad passed away unexpectedly. she is 29 years old and this only happened last month. organising this event and raising money for this charity is keeping her focused and strong so any support would be greatly appreciated. the event is being held locally at ye old bell in retford and we have arranged for the event to be featured in local media. the motor neurone disease mnd association is my chosen charity for fundraising. mnd is a rapidly progressive fatal illness. it leaves people unable to walk talk or feed themselves but intellect is rarely affected. with no cure or treatment half die within 14 months of diagnosis.mnd is such a heartbreaking disease my mother was diagnosed in x and unfortunately lost her battle a few months ago. I would like to raise money for this charity to help increase awareness and prolong life for others also to help researchers find a cure. . we had very little knowdlege about mnd and were not prepared for the outcome. mum lost her voice first which was heartbreaking to see she had so much she wanted to say yet it was so difficult to get it all out even on her samsung tablet it was a strain for her. she lost a lot of weight couldnt eat and was eventually fed by a peg tube through her stomach. it was devestating to see her decline so rapidly losing all of her independence and unable to enjoy the simplest things in life that she had only a few short months before. what she never lost was her smile sense of humour and her enjoyment of her grandchildrens company. she showed true strength and inspiration against this horrible disease with a thumbs up to say everything was ok until the very end.the mnd association wants to see a world free of mnd and they fund and promote reasearch to help bring about an end to the disease. until then they work hard to ensure everyone with mnd recieves the best possible care achieves the highest quality of life and dies with dignity. they are also dedicated to suppporting the families and carers of people with mnd.thank you for taking your time to read this.kind regardsali hochstetter
